Distribution:  Africa: Known only from the Bandama River in Côte d'Ivoire and Tano River in Ghana. Affinities: look-alike of Mormyrus tapirus and Mormyrus rume.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 60-71; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 16-18
